Investigation Reveals Journalist Daria Dugina's Murder; Identity of Killer Disclosed
The Federal Security Service of Russia has unveiled the details surrounding the murder of journalist Daria Dugina, as reported by the agency's Public Relations Center.
"It has been established that the crime was prepared and carried out by Ukrainian special services. The perpetrator is Natalya Vovk, a citizen of Ukraine, born in 1979," the statement reads.
The FSB clarified that Vovk arrived in Russia on July 23 with her 12-year-old daughter and rented an apartment in the same building where Dugina lived to gather information about her.
To track Dugina, the perpetrator used a Mini Cooper. Upon entering Russia, the vehicle had Donetsk People's Republic license plates—E982ХН DPR—in Moscow it bore Kazakhstan plates—172AJD02, and when leaving Russia it had Ukrainian plates—AH7771IP.
On the day of the murder, Vovk and her daughter attended the “Tradition” literary and music festival, where Dugina was present as an honorary guest. In the evening, Vovk executed a controlled explosion on the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado driven by the journalist. Following the incident, Vovk and her daughter traveled through the Pskov region to Estonia.
The investigation materials have been handed over to the Investigative Committee of Russia.
The hacking group RaHDit claims that Natalya Vovk is a member of the nationalist Azov Battalion. As confirmation, they published her identification documents on their website.
Daria Dugina was the daughter of Russian philosopher, political scientist, and publicist Alexander Dugin. Since March 2015, Dugin has been on the U.S. sanctions list due to events in Ukraine. Additionally, Canada and Australia have imposed sanctions against Dugin.
It is worth noting that on August 20, a vehicle belonging to Russian public figure Alexander Dugin was blown up on Mozhayskoye Highway in Moscow while being driven by his 30-year-old daughter, Daria Dugina, who died at the scene.
