Family of Armed Man Who Stormed Masis Municipality Suspects Their Son Was Murdered

On Friday evening, the family of Edward Margaryan, who stormed the Masis municipality armed with a grenade and a pistol, has doubts that their son did not commit suicide in the mayor's office as announced by the police the same day, but was rather murdered. They consider the terrorism charge to be absurd. This was reported by azatutyun.am.

“What terrorism? You called and said, ‘Edward, we have a score to settle, let’s settle it together.’ They called him, spoke with him at 4 PM, didn’t say ‘municipality.’ I don’t know where they called him, he was supposed to go to a meeting and said, ‘I’m going to meet with the mayor.’ But that person spoke and said, ‘They tricked me again, they didn’t come to meet me,’ my son spoke on that phone, I heard it,” said Edward Margaryan’s mother.

According to Edward Margaryan’s mother, Rima Margaryan, her 36-year-old son had never committed any crimes, had no mental health issues, nor did he consume alcohol or drugs, contrary to reports now spreading in Masis, she claims. Rima Margaryan states that in recent months her son had serious problems with certain people, including the mayor of Masis. Family members claim that the mayor of Masis and a former member of the city council had a conflict.

“I asked my son three times, ‘Edo, please answer, talk to me, I’m your mother, maybe you can come upstairs.’ The head of the police said, ‘Come, let’s go up together, Edward, I’m going up with your mother.’ I asked three times, if he were alive, wouldn’t he answer?” the mother stated.
