Weapons Collected in the Settlements of Syunik Province
According to our sources, prior to the evacuation operations in Berdzor and Agavnosi, weapons have been collected from the settlements of Syunik Province, reports Lragir.am.
According to circulating opinions, this was done to prevent the population from possibly resisting these operations. However, the media notes that this decision was justified to the residents as merely transferring the weapons to an armory.
The former administrative head of the Aravus community in Syunik, Argam Hovhsepian, confirmed in an interview with the publication that his weapon was taken. "I can say on my behalf that my weapon has been taken. I am an active participant in three wars, a commander for 30 years, and my weapon has been taken," said Argam Hovhsepian.
The media also mentions that this information was confirmed from other communities in Syunik.
According to Hovhsepian, the evacuation of Berdzor and Agavnosi is not the last concession. "The more you give, the more appetite they will have; you probably follow Aliyev's statements, the man says: 'Zangezur is ours, Yerevan is ours.' 64 hectares of land from Aravus is now in the hands of the Turk; why should our village's land be in the hands of a Turk now?" he pointed out.
Hovhsepian stated that in the current situation, they should not surrender but resist. "They are bringing us to our knees to such an extent that people are burning their homes and leaving Berdzor and Agavnosi; is that right? How can such a thing be done without war? I probably have not heard of such a thing in history, we are just in shock. If they want to resist, they should give the weapons to capable fighters and say, 'defend Lachin.’ We are ready to defend; why are they breaking the fighting men?" he added.
