As Long as the New Road is Not Operational, Russian Peacekeepers Will Not Move a Single Centimeter from the Current Corridor, Seleznyov
Russian peacekeepers will not move a single centimeter from the Lachin corridor as long as the new road is not operational, declared Maxim Seleznyov, the advisor-ambassador at the Russian embassy in Yerevan, in an interview with Azatutyun today.
The high-ranking diplomat emphasized that there are agreements in this regard and the parties are in direct contact, without specifying what agreements are being referred to and between whom.
“The Russian peacekeepers will only be redeployed once the new Lachin corridor opens. The trilateral statement from November 9, 2020, outlines the steps and the order of those steps: first, the corridor is to be constructed, and until it begins operations, Russian peacekeepers occupy the five-kilometer corridor surrounding that road,” Seleznyov stated in the interview.
