Has the Deadline for the Evacuation of Berdzor, Agavnovo, and Sus Been Extended?

Since August 3, the issues surrounding the evacuation of Berdzor, Agavnovo, and Sus and the launch of an alternative route to Lachin have intensified. It is known that residents of this area were given until August 25 to leave their homes, according to Hraparak.am.

On August 26, Azerbaijani forces were expected to appear in the region, while Russian peacekeepers were set to withdraw. People have already begun moving their belongings, with some even burning down their homes, and services such as electricity, gas, internet, and telephone connections have been cut off. Despite it still being August 19 and having time until the 25th, the evacuation is progressing rapidly.

During these days, intensive work is being conducted on the alternative Lachin road, which is a dirt road that will connect Artsakh with Armenia until the main road's construction is completed, a process that will take about 10 months. We were informed that the repair work on the temporary road will be finished in a few days.

However, during this time, some changes have taken place. The media has reported that, through the efforts of the authorities of Artsakh and Russian peacekeepers, the deadline has been slightly postponed. The new deadline has been set for September 1, adding an additional 5 days for relocation and repair work on the road.
