Reports of Explosive Device in Metro

There are reports of an explosive device placed in metro stations. Citizens have alerted Auroranews that the Republic Square station is closed.

To verify the information, we contacted the spokesperson for the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Haik Kostanyan, who confirmed the reports, stating that all metro stations are closed. Rescue teams are on site.

According to Kostanyan, the Ministry of Emergency Situations received a notification via email indicating that explosive devices were placed in the metro stations. Joint teams from the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Police are currently conducting operations. By 11:15, metro services were restored.

The spokesperson for the metro, Tatev Khachatryan, also posted on her Facebook page: 'Dear passengers, we inform you that due to a technical malfunction at 10:25 on August 17, there was an interruption in the traffic schedule. The issue was resolved by specialists by 11:15. The metro administration requests the passengers’ understanding.'
