Details on Gunshots Heard in Etchmiadzin

The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia is conducting procedural and investigative actions to clarify all circumstances surrounding the gunshot injuries sustained by two residents of the city of Etchmiadzin under Article 155, Part 2, Point 7, and Article 335, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code.

On August 18, 2022, at 11:25 PM, the Vagarshapat Medical Center reported that two 27-year-old young men were admitted for medical assistance with gunshot wounds, one of whom died in the hospital without regaining consciousness.

As a result of the investigative actions undertaken and operational-search measures conducted by the relevant division of the RA Police, a Mercedes vehicle belonging to the deceased was found on Khnunyants Street in Etchmiadzin, having crashed into parked cars along the roadside. During the inspection of the vehicle, traces resembling blood were discovered, and over ten gunshot wounds were identified on the vehicle.

It was established during the preliminary investigation that the gunshot wounds on the Mercedes were a result of gunfire unleashed on Tumanyan Street in Etchmiadzin. Necessary examinations have been appointed within the framework of the criminal proceedings, several individuals have been interrogated, and samples have been taken. The preliminary investigation is ongoing, and necessary measures are being taken to clarify all circumstances of the case.
