Armenian and Georgian Officials Gather at Armenian-Georgian Border for New Bridge Opening
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili will participate today in the official ceremony for the opening of the new "Friendship" bridge over the Debed River at the Armenian-Georgian border. This information was provided to Sputnik Armenia by the government press service.
The bridge opening ceremony will take place at 14:00. It was previously announced that the bridge would undergo trial operation starting from August 5.
Construction of the bridge began in May 2021. The structure consists of two parallel bridges located 1 meter apart, with each bridge having a width of 11.85 meters and a usable roadway width of 8.35 meters, extending 160 meters in length. The construction cost of the bridge is €9 million, with Armenia and Georgia each financing half of the project, contributing €4.5 million.
