This Russian Couple Was a Treasure and a Great Source of Experience: Ioannisyan
This Russian couple, along with their dog, was a treasure and a great source of experience. This was stated by the coordinator of IKМ, Daniel Ioannisyan.
The photo shows a couple from Russia's Kaliningrad region who moved to Armenia with their dog. They had volunteered for the rescue service in Kaliningrad and underwent training together with their dog.
“Upon learning about the possible survivors under the rubble of 'Suramlu,' they came to help as volunteers from the day after the accident. They stood on one side, did not interfere, and followed the instructions of the rescuers while their dog was 'sniffing out' the area,” Ioannisyan said.
Previously, in Kaliningrad, they had learned the procedures for collaboration with rescuers during disasters and incidents, and had received uniforms (carrot-colored shirts), while the dog was trained to locate missing persons.
I believe that this is a very important experience that should be replicated in Armenia. All interested parties should join volunteer rescue squads, undergo specific training, receive volunteer uniforms and helmets, and, if desired, help the rescue service effectively during disasters and incidents.
Moreover, the Ministry of Emergency Situations should suggest that citizens with dogs train them to locate people. These dogs will live in their homes, leading ordinary domestic lives, but will be able to assist rescuers in times of disaster.
We are a seismic risk country, and we must be prepared for bad scenarios,” Ioannisyan wrote.
