This is Equivalent to Political Death: Ghazinyan on Avinyan's Statement
Avinyan is not foolish enough to go to the epicenter of a national tragedy and announce his candidacy for the Yerevan City Council from the ruling party. This was stated by former MP Arthur Ghazinyan in a post on his Facebook page.
“Avinyan is not foolish enough to go to the epicenter of a national tragedy and announce his candidacy for the city council from the ruling party, especially since the elections for the Yerevan council are set to take place in September 2023, and the topic of snap elections had closed months ago. Even a person with an average intellect would understand that this is politically, morally, and simply humanly repugnant and unacceptable. This is tantamount to political death, as this episode will never be forgotten in his political biography, and he will be reminded of this step to exploit the grief following dozens of deaths and a disaster at every opportunity.”
“What drove him to take this step? What internal conflicts exist within the ruling party, and what mega-interests collided beneath the smoke and flames of the Surmalu trade center explosion? These questions are deeply buried, and their roots trace back to the events of the 2018 power seizure…”
