There is a Suspect in the 'Surmalu' Explosion Case: 'Hraparak'
The Yerevan Prosecutor's Office is investigating the criminal case initiated regarding the 'Surmalu' market incident. As of yesterday, there is already a suspect, one of the market employees, whose identity has not yet been disclosed. This is reported by the 'Hraparak' newspaper.
Approximately two dozen individuals have been interrogated, including victims and the owners of booths. Representatives of the market's administration and employees will also be questioned.
The owner of the market is Razmik Zakaryan, who served as a parliament member from 1990 to 1995. He was born in 1936 and graduated from the Physical Culture Institute and Yerevan State University with a qualification in economics. He was a member of the Communist Party. He has worked as the director of the Kamo Meat Factory and later as the director of the Yerevan Canning Factory. This factory was later restructured into 'Surmalu'. He has been a member of the ruling 'Republic' parliamentary group.
