First Ethnic Armenian Appointed as Administrative District Head in Turkey
After passing the examination for the administrative district head position and successfully completing the interview, ethnic Armenian Berk Acar has been appointed as the head of the Babadağ administrative district in the Denizli province of Turkey. He is set to assume his duties in the coming days, as reported by the Armenian press agency 'Armenpress' and Turkish news outlet aynahaber.net.
Berk Acar is the first Armenian to hold an administrative district leadership role in the history of the Republic of Turkey. The former head of Babadağ, Adem Karataş, officially stepped down from his position on August 16 and bid farewell to the community.
Berk Acar was born in 1995 in Istanbul and attended the private Sahakyan Nunyun Armenian secondary school and the 'Luys' high school. In 2020, he graduated from the law faculty at Bilgi University and completed his legal internship at a law office in the Şişli district.
