Armenian Law Enforcement Agencies Seek International Cooperation on Bomb Threat Reports

On August 14, prior to and following the explosion at the 'Surmalu' shopping center, bomb threat reports have continued in crowded areas of Yerevan. This situation has confused both the Armenian Police and the National Security Service officers, who are trying to determine the identity of those making the bomb threats. This was reported by the 'Zhoghavor' newspaper.

According to information obtained by 'Zhoghavor', in recent times, these frequent bomb threats are being made from abroad, prompting law enforcement agencies to reach out to their international counterparts to ascertain the identities of the individuals behind the threats.

It should be noted that the Prosecutor General's Office has initiated criminal proceedings under Article 314 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (Dissemination of False Information about Terrorism) concerning the aforementioned incidents. The investigation of this case is being carried out by the investigative department of the National Security Service.

Moreover, previous cases related to similar reports that have been received recently will also be transferred to the investigative department of the NSS. However, while they are investigating, new threats are on the rise.
