16 Victims: The Ministry of Emergency Situations Releases Names of Missing Persons and Several Victims
As of August 16, at 08:12, firefighting and search-and-rescue operations continue. As a result of the search and rescue efforts, the bodies of 16 citizens have been discovered. Among these are:
- Misak Patvakan's Margaryan, born in 1964
- Anahit Vazgen's Mkhitaryan, born in 1967
- Jemma Sargsi's Nazaryan, born in 1960
- Anahit Zarzandi's Khalatyan
- Vardan Gurgen's Kocharyan, born in 1960
- Gayané Artavazd's Avetisyan, born in 1966
- and the bodies of ten unidentified citizens.
60 citizens have turned to medical centers in Yerevan, with 12 continuing to receive treatment, while the remaining 48 have been discharged after receiving appropriate medical assistance.
Currently, 171 firefighters from the Fire and Rescue Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, 6 firefighters, 1 rescue vehicle, 2 fire truck ladders, and operational units from the Crisis Management National Center, Special Unit of the Rescue Forces' Administration, specialized UAV and canine units, medical support department, organizational divisions for firefighting and rescue operations, the on-duty psychologist from the psychological support department, a vehicle from the gas protection service, as well as urban search and rescue teams from Shirak and Tavush (44 and 40 rescuers respectively), 2 rescuers and 1 fire truck from the Russian-Armenian Center, 30 volunteers from the “VOMA” patriotic public organization and 102 volunteers from the “Red Cross” humanitarian organization are working at the scene.
Firefighting efforts are being conducted across 4 sectors. Additionally, 10 tractors, 16 dump trucks, 2 water trucks, 3 ambulance brigades, 1 body transport vehicle, and 2 mobile cranes from the municipality are engaged in the operations.
The on-duty team of the psychological support department is providing psychological assistance to citizens on-site. Citizens can also receive psychological support by calling the “911” hotline.
The firefighting operations are being coordinated by Minister of Emergency Situations Armen Pambukhchyan. Present at the scene were Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure G. Sanosyan.
Based on calls received at the AEM Ministry’s “911” hotline, the following individuals are considered missing in the vicinity of the “Surmalu” shopping center:

15. Lyuba Gribova (a citizen of the Russian Federation, born in 1959)
16. Mehri Taheri (a citizen of Iran)
17. Gegham Petrosyan (born in 1985)
Anyone with information regarding the missing citizens is encouraged to call the “911” hotline.
It is important to note that on August 14, at 13:23, the Crisis Management National Center received a report of an explosion at the “Surmalu” shopping center located at 15 Arshakuniats Street in Yerevan, which resulted in a fire and partial collapse of the three-story building.
