NATO Demands Increase in Weapons along Russia's Border

NATO allies on the Eastern flank have urged the United States to expedite arms supplies and expand the presence of American troops in the region, according to The Washington Post.

The article states that officials from the Baltic and Eastern European countries have called on Washington to increase defense production in order to speed up the implementation of previously signed defense contracts.

“HIMARS missile systems, Reaper drones, anti-drone radars — this is what we need to deter Russia,” said Estonian Defense Minister Kusti Salm.

The agency reminded that in recent months many countries in the region have supplied weapons to Ukraine from their own stocks. For its part, a Pentagon spokesperson, speaking on condition of anonymity, admitted that Western countries will eventually need to replenish their military capabilities, although it was not specified how long this would take.
