Aliyev Must Be Held Criminally Responsible by International Organizations, Babayan Says
Of course, we will have nothing within Azerbaijan; Artsakh will completely disappear if it ends up under Azerbaijan’s rule. This is a very simple truth that has been proven throughout history. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Artsakh, Davit Babayan, in an interview with Artsakh Public Television.
“Therefore, we must all understand very well and not be deceived, and not think that a resolution to the conflict is possible in such a way,” said the Artsakh official.
According to Babayan, in the case of impartial treatment, Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev should be held criminally responsible by international organizations for such statements.
“Of course, Aliyev does not even hide it — he started the war himself, he is the aggressor, he has grossly violated international law, and he is also implementing a genocidal policy. What’s next? We see that the international community is paralyzed, silent, and we see that the organizations that should raise alarms are also paralyzed and silent. The fact that the issue of Artsakh is not an internal matter of Azerbaijan is very obvious and clear, and all international documents, including that infamous statement of November 9, 2020, attest to this. Naturally, with such statements, Aliyev is trying to undermine the international resolution process, but I don’t think he will succeed,” Babayan stated.
Earlier, the President of Azerbaijan announced that Armenians living in Karabakh will have neither status, nor independence, nor special privileges, and will simply be ordinary citizens of Azerbaijan.
