VIDEO: Author Stabbed During Lecture in Critical Condition, Footage from the Scene

In New York's western Chautauqua Institute, British author Salman Rushdie, originally from India, was stabbed while giving a lecture. Following multiple knife injuries, he is currently in the hospital.

The 75-year-old writer is connected to a ventilator and is in critical condition. "Salman is likely to lose one eye, the nerves in his hand have been severed, and his liver has been stabbed and damaged," said agent Rudsha Wylie.

Rushdie was attacked by 24-year-old Hadi Matar, who stabbed the writer roughly ten times as Rushdie was preparing to deliver his lecture on stage at the Chautauqua County educational center in New York. Matar's motives are under investigation.

It is known that Iran has placed a $3 million bounty on Rushdie's life due to his book "The Satanic Verses," which is considered anti-Islamic in the Muslim world.
