Sweden to Extradite Man Whose Extradition Was Requested by Turkey

The Swedish government has decided to extradite an individual whose name is included in a list of people whose extradition is demanded by Turkey, reports Vzglyad.ru, citing the SVT television channel.

The case concerns a 35-year-old man who was convicted in Turkey on multiple charges in 2013 and 2016, resulting in a total sentence of 14 years in prison. Since the end of last year, the suspect has been in custody in Sweden pending extradition.

This extradition will be the first following Turkey’s demands for the extradition of several individuals as a condition for the endorsement of Sweden's application to join NATO. Previously, Sweden had rejected Turkey's requests for the extradition of Kurdish individuals.
