NATO is an Organization That Contributes to Global Security: What Slovenia's President Fears

Slovenian President Borut Pahor believes that if the conflict in Ukraine lasts longer than expected, tension may spread to the South and Western Balkans.

“Slovenia sincerely appreciates the honorable President Erdoğan's efforts and Turkey's mediating role between Ukraine and Russia. For now, there is mediation to avoid innocent people suffering, rather than imposing peace by force, starting with honest, peaceful relations. If this war lasts longer than expected, tensions could encompass both the south and the western Balkans,” said Pahor, as quoted by Anadolu Agency.

According to him, Slovenia has managed to establish friendship with Turkey. “This is indeed an exemplary situation in terms of friendship and alliance. I hope these initiatives will successfully continue. Turkey and Slovenia are allies and partner countries in NATO. Because of the war in Ukraine, we have once again seen how important this is. NATO is an organization that contributes to global security,” added the Slovenian leader.
