Did the soldier take his own life or was he pushed? What happened in the Tavush military unit

According to ArmLur.am, the entire personnel of the military unit is being questioned in the criminal proceedings regarding the soldier who died on August 9. The incident occurred in one of the military units in the Tavush region. The preliminary investigation body is conducting an inquiry into the circumstances of suicide.

The soldier was alone at the time, therefore, the preliminary investigation body currently has no suspicions about him being driven to that action, and he is considered to have committed suicide. Investigators are currently verifying whether his actions were related to service issues or personal problems.

It is noted that the Military Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia is taking the necessary measures to clarify all circumstances surrounding the death of soldier Erik Armen Gharsayan. Preliminary data suggests that reports of the soldier inflicting a gunshot wound on himself were received on August 9, 2022.

According to the information received, mandatory conscript soldier, Private Erik Armen Gharsayan, received a life-threatening gunshot wound in the chest from an AKM-type assault rifle while in a firing position. On the same day, the soldier was transported to a medical center, where he was declared biologically dead.

Considering that there is a legal reason and basis for initiating a criminal proceeding under Part 1 of Article 522 of the RA Criminal Code, a criminal case has been initiated at the sixth garrison investigative department of the Military Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia. An investigative group has been dispatched to the scene, and urgent and necessary investigative and procedural actions are being carried out.
