Air Temperature to Rise
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that from August 11-15, dry weather is expected across the territory of the Republic of Armenia. The winds will be from the southeast at a speed of 2-5 m/s. In the foothills of Aragatsotn and Kotayk, and in Armavir, strong winds are anticipated in the evening hours, reaching speeds of 15-20 m/s.
During the period from August 11-15, air temperatures will gradually rise by 5-8 degrees. In Yerevan, dry weather is expected from August 1-15. Strong winds are forecasted in the evening hours, reaching speeds of 15-20 m/s. On the night of August 11, temperatures in the capital were recorded at 20-22 degrees, with daytime temperatures expected to reach +35...+37 degrees.
The agency warns that due to the penetration of tropical hot air currents from Iraqi regions, air temperatures across the republic will rise by 6-8 degrees from August 11-16. In the Ararat Plain, the foothill areas of Aragatsotn and Vayots Dzor, and in Yerevan, daytime temperatures are expected to reach +40...+42 degrees from August 15-19. Given the high thermal background and the absence of precipitation, high fire risk conditions are anticipated in the foothill and valley regions during these days.
