Ukraine Receives Opportunity to Freeze $20 Billion External Debt Payments

Ukraine has been granted permission to defer the payments on its external debt, as reported by Bloomberg.

It is noted that creditors have approved Kyiv's request to freeze payments until 2024 in order to avoid default.

Ukraine's external debt amounts to $19.6 billion, and the decision by creditors will allow Kyiv to save $5.8 billion that was due for servicing the debt.

The international group of Ukraine's creditors includes representatives from Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States, along with observers from an additional 15 countries.
