It's Time for Peacekeeping Forces from Other Countries to be Deployed in Artsakh, Says MP from the ruling party
It's time for peacekeeping forces from other countries to be deployed in Artsakh, and we must think about the security of the Armenian population in Artsakh. This was stated by MP Gagik Melkonyan from the Civil Contract faction during a program on 24TV, addressing the recent military operations carried out by Azerbaijan in Artsakh.
According to him, the situation can only be salvaged through consolidation, and the opposition bears significant responsibility in this regard. He remarked, “The country is being conquered while the opposition is protesting in front of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, demanding resignation to save the country. We are facing a major problem—Baku wants the ‘Zangezur corridor’ to cut us off from the world. We must stand up and not allow them to enter Syunik. If necessary, we will go to Syunik as a nation,” Melkonyan stated.
Speaking about Azerbaijan’s demand for the removal of the Defense Army from Artsakh, the former Deputy Minister of Defense emphasized that the Armenian side must insist that the Artsakh Defense Army continues to operate in the region, and Russia should also support this issue. “We must strengthen the Artsakh Defense Army; if we dismantle it, we should be hopeful only in ourselves, so that later we don’t blame anyone with regret,” he added.
