When did Mt. Sartsasar come under Azerbaijani control?

The Sartsasar (Buzzdukh) mountain in the Martakert region of the Artsakh Republic came under Azerbaijani control as a result of the 44-day war in 2020. This information was disclosed by a source from 24News.

According to a statement released by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense's press service on August 6, following the "clarifications conducted by the Azerbaijani army units, the Buzzdukh mountain and neighboring heights have come under the control of the Azerbaijani armed forces."

The Artsakh Defense Army has neither confirmed nor denied the information regarding the loss of these heights. The media outlet attempted to reach Suren Sarumyan, the spokesperson for the Defense Army, but calls went unanswered.

Sartsasar is located near the Chapar village in the Martakert region. The deputy head of the Martakert regional administration, who refused to be named, stated he was unaware of Sartsasar and declined to answer any questions. After three attempts to contact the regional administration head Arsen Avanesyan, he finally said he did not have time to respond to inquiries.
