The U.S. Supports Israel's Right to Defend Against Attacks from Gaza: Biden
President Biden announced that the United States supports Israel's right to defend itself against attacks from Gaza. He welcomed the declaration of a ceasefire between Israel and militants following a three-day military operation in Gaza.
Earlier, it was reported that the Palestinian group Islamic Jihad confirmed the signing of a ceasefire agreement with Israel, facilitated by Egypt, according to Agence France-Presse. The group’s representative, Mohammed al-Hindi, stated that the parties have come to an agreement on the details of the accord.
The document specifically includes Cairo's commitment to work toward the release of detained leader Bassam al-Saadi. The ceasefire came into effect at 23:30 local time.
This information has also been confirmed by the Israeli Prime Minister's press service, which noted that the country reserves the right to use force in the event of a breach of the agreement.
