“The last time an elite composed of ethnic Armenians carried out the forced migration of Armenians from their homes was in 1604-1605 on the orders of Shah Abbas. Structurally, the reason was the same: that elite was engaged in collaborationist and comprador trade with the invaders. The same is true today.
