Evacuation of Residents from Berdzor and Agavno has Begun: Artsakh Ombudsman Details

The situation in Artsakh has been relatively calm in recent days. This was reported to 'Factinfo' by the Ombudsman of Artsakh, Gegham Stepanyan. He noted that tension along the border remains in various directions, but the overall situation is peaceful.

'Agreements have been reached between Russian peacekeepers and Azerbaijanis regarding the new route and stabilizing the overall situation, which is why the situation in Artsakh has been relatively stable yesterday and today,' said Gegham Stepanyan.

As previously reported, residents of Berdzor and Agavno have been given time until August 25 to leave their settlements. Gegham Stepanyan informed us that the evacuation of residents from Berdzor and Agavno has already begun.

Regarding where the displaced residents will be resettled, the Ombudsman of Artsakh clarified: 'The populations of Agavno and Berdzor have had the status of displaced persons since November 9, 2020, and they will benefit from all programs activated for displaced persons. As the Minister of Urban Development stated, those who wish to resettle in Artsakh will live in Artsakh, while those who wish to move to the Republic of Armenia will be transferred there,' said Gegham Stepanyan.
