China Appeals to Armenia and Azerbaijan
China calls on the authorities of Armenia and Azerbaijan to avoid further escalation of the situation. This statement was made by the official representative of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wang Wenbin.
“Azerbaijan and Armenia are friendly partners of China. We hope that the parties will adhere to the agreements reached regarding the ceasefire and avoid further escalation of the situation, as well as be able to eliminate contradictions and disagreements through political dialogue,” he stated.
It was reported that yesterday, on the evening of August 6, a conscript from the Armenian Armed Forces, Private Nver Armeni Gevorgyan (born in 2002), was injured by gunfire from the opposing side at a combat position located in the eastern part of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. Shortly after, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation confirmed information regarding the injured serviceman near the village of Sotk in the Gegharkunik region of Armenia.
On August 3, Azerbaijani units targeted the defense positions and the permanent deployment site of one of the brigades, using firearms of various calibers, mortars, grenade launchers, and strike drones. The Armenian side reported 2 dead and 19 injured.
