Berdzor Residents Have Not Yet Left the City, Mayor
Residents of the settlements of Aghavno and Berdzor in Artsakh, who have been given time until August 25 to leave their homes by the Artsakh authorities, are currently gathering their belongings. However, as of now, no family has left these settlements.
Many have not yet decided where to move, whether they will resettle in Artsakh or establish their residence in Armenia. A total of 204 residents are scheduled to be relocated from Aghavno, while in Berdzor, where there were 2,000 residents before the war, only 174 remain.
The village of Sus will also come under Azerbaijani control, but there are currently no residents there.
The inhabitants of Berdzor and Aghavno are struggling with the thought of leaving their homes, which they built with their own hands, to the adversary. “The intentions of moving to Armenia or resettling in Artsakh are mixed; people don’t know what to do at this moment, and any decision made can change. It’s a state of confusion; like everyone, I haven’t thought about it yet; I don’t have time, I’ll make the decision when I’m calmer,” Berdzor Mayor Narek Aleksanyan told NEWS.am.
According to the Mayor of Berdzor, the Armenian government provides up to 8 million drams for purchasing an apartment in Yerevan, 10 million in the regions, and 12 million in Artsakh.
