Thames River Source Dries Up Due to Abnormal Heat in Great Britain
For the first time in British history, the source of the Thames River has dried up due to abnormal heat and drought, reports the British newspaper Guardian.
“After an extended dry spell, the source of the Thames in Gloucestershire has dried up, and the weak stream can now barely be seen flowing more than five miles downstream,” said Rob Collins, director of research at the environmental organization Rivers Trust.
The expert admitted that under climate change conditions, the frequency and intensity of such periods of drought and water scarcity will increase.
It is worth noting that Europe has been affected by abnormal heat. Fires have currently broken out in Spain, fireworks have been banned in France due to the risk of fires, and a state of emergency has been declared in Portugal.
