What Fosters Azerbaijani Audacity: Arman Tatoyan on Recent Events in Artsakh

The aggressive attacks by Azerbaijan against Artsakh and the demand to close the corridor connecting Artsakh to Armenia grossly violate the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020, regarding deadlines (3 years), the construction of a new road, mutual agreement on the plan for that road, and the completion of the road. This was stated by the former Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Arman Tatoyan, on his Facebook page.

“The high-ranking officials who systematically conceal evidence of Azerbaijani crimes and justify their illegal presence for their own political interests, unfortunately, are from the Republic of Armenia. During the war and thereafter, Azerbaijan's crimes against humanity directed at our people and their state attitude prove that this policy will not change. What peace (even intentions) or rights can be discussed in the case of a state that pursues a policy of anti-Armenianism? It is explicitly directed not only against the people of Artsakh, the indigenous population of Artsakh, but also against Armenia,” he stated.

Azerbaijani crimes, including those related to the killing of an Armenian serviceman today and causing harm to several other servicemen, are direct evidence of all this. I continue to assert that we must not allow ourselves to be dulled by false pacifism. Yes, peace is a supreme value; we all want peace, but peace cannot come at the expense of our homeland and existence, nor with continuous violations of our rights and dignity,” he emphasized.
