Two Demands Posed to Armenian Authorities: Tigran Abrahamyan on Enemy Aggression
The latest Azerbaijani aggression is based on two demands presented to the Armenian authorities, failing to meet which could lead Azerbaijan to use force. This statement was made by Tigran Abrahamyan, advisor to the former president of Artsakh and secretary of the 'I Have Honor' faction in the National Assembly of Armenia.
According to him, the first demand relates to the presence of the Armenian Armed Forces in the territory of Artsakh, regarding which the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia made a statement a few days ago.
“Since the 44-day war, conscription from Armenia to Artsakh has been halted, and as a result of the last call-up, by the end of August, the last recruits of mandatory military service in Artsakh will be dismissed. By September, there will not be any servicemen registered in Armenia in Artsakh, and de facto, Azerbaijan’s demand will lose its relevance,” the political figure stated.
The second issue, which Azerbaijan considers a priority in its agenda, is obtaining a corridor through Armenia to Nakhchivan. Tigran Abrahamyan noted that the Azerbaijani president's threats to revise their approach regarding the corridor linking Armenia to Artsakh are not coincidental.
By advancing this stance, Aliyev states that the Lachin corridor should have the same regime as the corridor that is proposed through Armenia. In simple terms, if Armenia does not provide a corridor, but simply a road with an Armenian checkpoint, then Azerbaijan is threatening to set up a checkpoint in the Lachin corridor.
The latest Azerbaijani aggression towards Artsakh should be viewed within the framework of these demands.
