They Took Me to the Airplane Door as if I Were the Most Dangerous Criminal. Masis Abrahamyan on His Deportation
This morning, when they came to take me from Zvartnots Transit, I was filled with a terrible excitement, which was certainly natural. One does not get deported from their own country every day. I did not see any signs of understanding from the three young male employees, but there was a lovely girl among the staff who had a very compassionate gaze.
They took me to the door of the airplane and only then returned my passport while strictly adhering to protocol, as if they were deporting the most dangerous criminal. This was stated by Masis Abrahamyan, the head of the Armenian Cause in the Netherlands, in relation to the incident of being banned from entering his homeland.
I told them that Nikol thinks he can neutralize me by expelling me from the country, but let him know that I will soon return to personally escort him to a harsh judgment. Shortly after, as I sat in the very last seat of the airplane, emotional and abandoned, the girl ran over to me, squeezed my hand, and said, 'Don’t worry, you will return very soon.' I wanted to hug her and thank her, but it wasn’t appropriate. Thus, I express my gratitude. She and those like her are the true homeland; the rest are just the foam of the sea. Thank you, my girl, you gave me the greatest hope to overcome this situation,” Abrahamyan noted.
