"Politics Must Be Distinguished from Toasts, and Realpolitik from Slogans" Says Political Scientist
Political scientist Suren Surenyants' remarks.
"Politics must be distinguished from toasts. The coexistence with Azerbaijan in any format is excluded for the people of Artsakh, as Azerbaijan has a singular goal regarding the Artsakh issue: the complete ethnic cleansing of Artsakh's population," reads the statement from one of Armenia's political parties.
One can indulge in populism and make such inadequate statements, and then express surprise that the international community does not understand or perceive us correctly.
Coexistence with Azerbaijan may be possible even in the case where Artsakh is an independent state, as neighboring countries also 'coexist.' Should we aim for the elimination of Azerbaijan to rule out 'coexistence'?
Or if the authors of the statement mean the imperative of recognizing Artsakh's independence, let them state that directly and also indicate the mechanisms through which they will achieve that agenda.
Politics must be distinguished from toasts, and realpolitik from slogans..."
