Major Car Accident: 1 Dead, 5 Injured

On August 1, a tragic car accident occurred in the Gegharkunik region. Around 22:20, on the 57th km section of the Sevan-Martuni-Geghatp highway, a collision took place between a Mercedes driven by 22-year-old Artem P. and a Mitsubishi driven by 20-year-old Artem M.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, as a result of the accident, a passenger in the Mitsubishi, 58-year-old Gemma Makhmuryan from the Gegharkunik region, died on the spot.

The driver of the Mitsubishi, Artem M., along with his passengers—41-year-old Telli S. and 46-year-old Armenuhi M., both from the Gegharkunik region—were injured, as was Artem P., the driver of the Mercedes, and his passenger, 22-year-old Arthur S., also from the Gegharkunik region. They were transported to the Martuni Medical Center with bodily injuries.

Civilians and the emergency medical team that promptly arrived from the Martuni hospital were the first to provide assistance to the injured.
