Five Years After the Shooting in Shamirami: Six Shot, Four Killed - Current Situation
Five years have passed since this incident occurred, and we demand justice. This was stated by a citizen who was injured during the massacre in the village of Shamirami in an interview with ArmLur.am.
Recall that on August 1, 2017, in the morning, a gunman opened fire on those gathered in a mourning hall adjacent to the Shamirami cemetery and then fled the scene. Four people died, and seven were injured. A criminal case was initiated regarding the incident, and the suspect’s uncle, Telman Kalashyan, was arrested on suspicion of concealing the crime, while Telman Kalashyan himself is currently wanted.
During the massacre, an injured citizen stated: “I witnessed the incident. It took place in this hall. There were 300 people sitting here. He came in and started shooting everyone. He fired without reason; that man could have killed 100 people. The shooter was a distant relative. My cousin was injured. Abbas, one of the deceased, was my uncle's son, and Zorik is my uncle. Mr. Ozmalyan is my biological uncle. They had financial issues with our relatives. They had lent each other money at interest; the entire conversation was between them. We were unaware of anything,” he said.
According to him, the families of the victims have one demand: justice.
