Why Has Baku Become More Active? Political Analyst on Border Shootings
The Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan, Zakir Hasanov, has instructed the military to be prepared to respond immediately and decisively to any potential provocation from the adversary. This was stated by political analyst Suren Surenyants on his Facebook page.
“Of course, I am far from thinking that Hasanov's words are a signal of a large-scale war, but on the other hand, the ceasefire has been violated in recent days both in Artsakh and on Armenia's eastern border. Azerbaijan's disinformation regarding Armenia allegedly violating the ceasefire regime continues on a daily basis. Baku's rhetoric hardened after Blinken had phone conversations with Pashinyan and Aliyev, promising 'technical assistance' regarding the unblocking of communications.
Is Baku dissatisfied with Washington's proposal, or is it Yerevan, or perhaps a third country? In any case, through gunfire, Azerbaijan is either sending a message to Washington or trying to make Washington's message 'acceptable' for Yerevan. It should not be excluded, of course, that through Baku, Moscow is 'shooting' towards Washington...
