Russia Transfers $5 Billion to Turkey, Evasive of Western Sanctions

Rosatom is transferring funds to its subsidiary, which is constructing the $20 billion Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant on Turkey's Mediterranean coast. The transfers, conducted in US dollars, are processed by Russian banks under sanctions. Rosatom, the sole owner of the Turkish project, and its subsidiary responsible for building the nuclear plant have not been subjected to sanctions.

Turkey had concerns that the construction of Akkuyu would be delayed due to the military actions in Ukraine, including potential financial problems. However, Russia has successfully circumvented Western sanctions and transferred $5 billion to Turkey.
