Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili Withdraws from Georgian Politics
The third President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, has announced his withdrawal from Georgian politics, according to his lawyer Valeri Gelbakhian.
As reported by Alik Media, Gelbakhian stated that the former president is severing ties with the opposition party he founded, the United National Movement. According to the lawyer, the reason behind this decision is to save Saakashvili's life. “It is now a matter of life and death, not politics,” said Gelbakhian.
It is noteworthy that Saakashvili was arrested on October 1, 2021.
