US Instructs to Investigate Matter: Motive Behind Kanaker Murder Revealed
Several circumstances have been clarified regarding the brawl over household matters on Kanaker Street in Yerevan that led to the death of a 21-year-old man. The Armenian Investigative Committee reports the details.
Earlier, it was reported that on July 13, between 01:05 and 05:00, two 21-year-old residents from Gyumri and a 20-year-old and 19-year-old from Yerevan were taken to various medical centers with injuries of varying degrees.
Specifically, the investigation has revealed that the deceased 21-year-old, days before the incident, learned from a friend in the United States about slanderous information about himself and had a phone conversation with this individual. The young men argued and exchanged insults.
To clarify the situation, the person in the US contacted his 20-year-old friend living in Yerevan, who had previously arranged to meet with the 21-year-old in a park on Paruir Sevak Street along with his friends. The 20-year-old informed his friends about the upcoming meeting.
At the initiative of the young man who proposed the meeting, the conversation was moved to the vicinity of one of the buildings on Kanaker Street, where a confrontation ensued. The 20-year-old used an as-yet unidentified cutting or stabbing object to strike the 21-year-old in the chest, resulting in the young man's death.
The 20-year-old has been arrested and presented to the prosecuting authority. The preliminary investigation continues. Active investigative and procedural actions are underway within the framework of the criminal case initiated by the Kanaker-Zeytun administrative district of Yerevan's investigative department under Article 44-155, part 1 (Murder) and Article 167, part 1 (Causing moderate bodily harm) of the RA Criminal Code to clarify all circumstances of the incident.
