Gegharkunik Governor Involved in Car Accidents While Intoxicated
Today, on July 25, a car accident occurred in Kotayk Province. At approximately 00:20, vehicles driven by 38-year-old Karen Sargsyan, a Mercedes with license plate 01 QA 110, and Vardan Tovmasyan, a Volkswagen with license plate 36 TT 011, collided on the 26 km stretch of the Yerevan-Sevan highway.
According to shamshyan.com, preliminary information indicates that fortunately, there were no injuries reported. Officers from the 1st platoon of the 3rd battalion of the Road Police arrived promptly, led by platoon commander Arthur Petrosyan and the commander of the 2nd squad, Sarkis Bagratyan.
The accident was recorded on-site by senior inspector Karl Baghyan from the same platoon. Both drivers underwent sobriety testing. It was determined that the driver of the Mercedes, K. Sargsyan, was intoxicated.
According to the website's sources, the police had received reports that before this accident, K. Sargsyan was also involved in another vehicle accident in Dilijan, after which he continued driving and subsequently caused another accident in Kotayk Province. He is the governor of Gegharkunik.
