Photos: Water Leak Creates Emergency Situation, Police Officers Selflessly Regulate Traffic
Today, on July 22, at around 10:30 AM, a burst water pipe at the intersection of Koryun and Abovyan streets in Yerevan caused water to flow freely into the street, creating an emergency situation for drivers.
Before the representatives of the Yerevan municipality arrived, Senior Officer Vardges Mkrtchyan and Officer Petros Vahanyan from the 1st platoon of the 4th company of the Yerevan Patrol Service, who were returning home after their night shift, noticed that drivers were panicking and traffic congestion was forming in that area. They stopped to regulate the traffic, which helped to clear the congestion caused by the burst water pipe in a short time.
The officers managed traffic for about an hour, after which other arriving patrol officers took over the service. Authorities at Veolia Water and the administrative staff of the Kentron district have been informed about the burst water pipe, and they have reported that work is already underway to resolve the issue.
