Citizen Insults Police Officers and Assaults One with Headbutt
The Investigative Committee of Armenia is conducting necessary measures in the Arabkir administrative district of Yerevan to clarify all the circumstances surrounding the interference in the legal service activities of officials and the violence against a police officer.
It should be noted that a relevant report was submitted by a police officer of the patrol service on July 21, 2022, indicating that patrol officers noticed a BMW vehicle creating an emergency situation by violating traffic regulations on H. Hakobyan Street around 5:30 PM on that day. After stopping the vehicle in accordance with established legal procedures, the officers requested the driver to present their documents and check their sobriety. It was found that the driver was in an intoxicated state.
The police informed the driver that they were preparing to draft a report for driving under the influence of alcohol. However, the driver, exhibiting aggressive behavior, began to insult the officers and threatened them, during which he headbutted one of the police officers, causing bodily harm. Additionally, while being taken to the Arabkir police station, he kicked and damaged the patrol vehicle.
As a result of the conducted measures, the driver's identity was established, and he was arrested on suspicion of committing a crime. He was presented to the Investigative Committee of Armenia's Yerevan City investigative department, where a criminal case was initiated based on the elements of a socially dangerous act under Article 452, Part 3 of the Armenian Criminal Code. The injured officer has been recognized as a victim and interviewed.
The driver has been arrested, and a motion has been submitted to the prosecutor to initiate criminal prosecution against him. Various procedural and investigative actions have been conducted, including interviews, examination of the patrol vehicle, and the appointment of forensic medical, forensic trace, and forensic examination.
The pre-investigation is ongoing.
