US Embassy Clarifies Statement That Caused Panic

The US embassies around the world regularly recruit volunteers for community liaison roles. This was stated in a clarification from the US Embassy in Armenia. The clarification was issued following an embassy statement indicating that it is looking for volunteers not only in the administrative districts of Yerevan but also in all regions of Armenia.

The US Embassy's clarification is as follows:

“Recently, a publication titled ‘Message for US Citizens’ was posted on the website of the US Embassy in Armenia, indicating that the embassy is searching for community liaison volunteers (https://am.usembassy.gov/clo-message-us-citizens/). US embassies worldwide routinely recruit community liaison volunteers who assist in conveying information and providing necessary support to US citizens residing or traveling abroad. This is part of the everyday operations of consular services.”
