Prevented a Murder and Saved the Life of a Woman Stabbed by Her Husband
The Prosecutor General of Armenia, Artur Davtyan, has awarded a certificate of appreciation to Armenian citizen Arayik Ananyan for his bravery and selflessness in preventing a crime. This information was reported by the Public Relations Department of the Prosecutor's Office.
During the meeting, Artur Davtyan expressed his gratitude and emphasized the importance of citizen support in both the prevention and detection of crimes. The Prosecutor General highlighted Arayik Ananyan's actions in directly intervening during the incident, which ultimately helped prevent a crime and save a woman's life.
The incident occurred on June 17, 2022. The Malatya Division of the Yerevan Police received a report that T. Gasparyan had been transported to the 'Astghik' Medical Center with bodily injuries. It was revealed that at a public transport stop, M. Mkrtchyan approached the woman, T. Gasparyan, and engaged in an argument over domestic issues, during which he unlawfully attempted to strangle her, threatened to kill her, and inflicted knife wounds to her neck, causing bodily harm.
With the intervention of eyewitness Arayik Ananyan, M. Mkrtchyan abandoned the knife, considered the instrument of the crime, at the scene and fled. Assistance was subsequently provided to the injured woman. M. Mkrtchyan has been arrested within the framework of the initiated criminal proceedings. The investigation is ongoing.
