Iranian Expert Comments on Meeting Between Iran's Spiritual Leader and Turkey's President
Iranian expert Vardan Voskanian made a post on his Facebook page addressing the key points from the meeting that took place today between Iran's spiritual leader and Turkey's president.
“During the meeting of Iran's spiritual leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei with Erdogan, two important statements regarding Armenia and Artsakh were made. In the first, satisfaction was expressed concerning the return of Artsakh to Azerbaijan. If we translate this formulation from the Iranian diplomatic language, it means that changes in the de facto situation in Artsakh do not currently serve Iran's interests, and any advancement by the Azerbaijani-Turkish coalition is unacceptable. In other words, Iran's spiritual leader told the leader of Turkey, which operates Azerbaijan, to be content with what has been achieved and not to strive for more,” Voskanian emphasized.
“As a practical continuation of this, Ayatollah Khamenei issued a very transparent warning that Iran considers any political policy aimed at blocking the centuries-old Armenia-Iran border unacceptable, unequivocally hinting at Iran's determination to prevent any Azerbaijani-Turkish attempts to sever the borders of our two countries.”
“Another notable aspect characteristic of Iran's ancient political culture is 'killing two hares with one shot.' By emphasizing the ancient nature of the Armenia-Iran border, Iran's highest spiritual and political figure has, in essence, pointed out how ancient nations and states Iran and Armenia are, in contrast to the regional artificial formations attempting to claim 'historical legitimacy' at our expense,” he added.
