What Is Putin's Secret Weapon, According to the U.S.
The moral and political confusion of modern Western society has become Russian President Vladimir Putin's secret weapon, writes Walter Russell in The Wall Street Journal.
“Putin is trying to exploit the issues within Western societies, which ultimately should bring the American world order to its knees,” the publication states.
The author believes that Russia has not only resisted but has also established order among its adversaries in the economic war with the West. Notably, the article points out that Germany, frightened by the consequences of the financial confrontation, has begun to shy away from its promises to increase defense spending.
“Putin has achieved greater success in the economic and political spheres where the West considered its power to be the strongest,” the author states. In his view, the West lacks optimism about the idea that its values will unite the global community and compel it to present a unified front against Russia.
