VIDEO: Police Captain Defrauded Citizens, Extorted Money

According to information received from the Internal Security Department of the Police, an officer from the community police department of the Vagharshapat division has been organizing the process of issuing driver's licenses without taking driving tests for a large bribe.

As a result of operational-intelligence measures and an internal investigation, it was revealed that a group of individuals had met with the police captain to obtain a driver's license. The captain informed them that he could assist in receiving the driver's license without passing theoretical and practical exams if they provided a bribe ranging from 150,000 to 250,000 drams. According to the agreed terms, from October 2021 to April 2022, the citizens personally or through their relatives provided the demanded amount to the police captain.

However, the crime was not completed due to circumstances beyond their control, as the police captain initially had no intention of supporting the process of obtaining a driver's license and deceitfully embezzled the money.

Materials from the internal inquiry have been sent to the Anti-Corruption Committee, where a criminal case has been initiated, and a decision has been made to charge the police officer as a defendant. The pre-investigation continues.
