Four Iranians Arrested Suspected of Armed Robbery in Yerevan
According to SHAMSHYAN.com, the officers from the Criminal Investigation Department of the Arabkir Police, led by department head Yurvand Nikoyan, carried out extensive operational and investigative work. After corroborating the operational information received and being confident that it was credible, they conducted a special operation named "Neutralize Before the Border."
The officers from the Arabkir Police then collaborated with their counterparts from the Criminal Investigation Department of the Yerevan Police, under the leadership of department head Sevan Kocharyan, operational line deputy Arthur Zakaryan, and the head of the Criminal Investigation Department Hovhannes Aristakesyan, to execute the operation.
In Syunik Province, the Arabkir police and detectives from the Yerevan Police Criminal Investigation Department worked in cooperation with the operational officers from the Syunik Provincial Police Criminal Investigation Group, led by department head Alik Mamikonyan, and the detectives from the Meghri Police Department. They ambushed along the Meghri-Agarak road and stopped a vehicle of the Opel brand, which was being exploited as a taxi, on suspicion of committing armed robbery.
The police discovered nationals from the Islamic Republic of Iran inside the Opel: 24-year-old Mahdi J., 31-year-old Reza A., 24-year-old Hossein D., and 32-year-old Ali A. They were taken into custody on suspicion of armed robbery and subsequently presented to the Arabkir investigation department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, where a criminal case was initiated under Article 252, Part 2, Points 3, 5, and 7 of the RA Criminal Code.
As reported by G. Shamshyan, one of the detainees was found to have a gold chain stolen from the victim in his possession. As previously reported from the scene by a photojournalist, an armed robbery occurred in Yerevan on July 11, where masked assailants armed with a pistol attacked the premises. Around 6:00 PM, a call was made to the Arabkir Police regarding a robbery occurring at one of the offices located at 13a V. Papazyan Street.
As per G. Shamshyan's information, four individuals with medical masks covering their faces entered an office engaged in internet design run by foreigners and threatened staff with a firearm, demanding money, after which they stole several hundred dollars and mobile phones before fleeing the scene. Just a few meters from the office, police and investigators found an object resembling a pistol, which was confiscated by the investigator.
