Attempt to Drill into Armenian Historical Inscriptions Carved on Rock
The Urartian inscriptions located in the Saray region of Van province in present-day Turkey have come under the target of treasure hunters. This was reported by Ermenihaber. Treasure hunters, driven by the frenzy to find gold, have attempted to drill into the ancient Armenian historical inscriptions carved on rock. It is noteworthy that this Urartian "castle" stands at a height of 5 meters. Over time, the rock surface of the inscription has been completely marred by various interventions. Meanwhile, Turkish authorities have thus far ignored the local calls to preserve the historical heritage.
